Lisa Go

Biography

[Lisa Go]

A third-generation Japanese-Chinese, Lisa Go describes her music as "quiet rock", something of a misnomer. Lisa, as she's billed in Japan, combines heavy guitars with synthesizer effects much in the same way former Pigface singer Meg Lee Chin does in the UK.

Lisa got her first taste of music in high school, where she excelled in arts and design. After graduating, she decided to become a performer.

Lisa first signed to MCA Victor in 1995, releasing two albums and six singles. She then jumped to Sony in 1997, where she recorded another two albums and released four more singles.

Seeking more creative freedom, Lisa allowed her deal with Sony to expire in 1998, and not long after released her first independent album, Sunbeams in 1999.

In 2000, Lisa traveled to Portland, Ore., to participate in the North by Northwest Festival, which coincided with the release of her English-language album, Moonbeams.

Since then, Lisa has released more singles, a Japanese version of Moonbeams and a third album, Utaime, all on her own label, Sapphirecords. A fourth album, Kairo Maimai, is still in the works.
