BUGY CRAXONE

Biography

[BUGY CRAXONE]

Out of the strange habit of creating abbreviations for words, BUGY CRAXONE forged its name from the words "blue", "easy" and "Craxone".

"Blue" ("Buu") represents negativity. "Easy" ("Jii") stands for optimism. "Craxone", taken from the word "Klaxon", embodies varied sounds ranging from warnings to gratitude.

Or so explains the band.

BUGY CRAXONE formed in May 1997, and it didn't take long for the trio from Hokkaido to grab people's attention.

BUGY CRAXONE's dramatic, guitar-heavy rock would probably draw comparrisons to early Radiohead, with singer Suzuki Yukiko whispering demurely one second, lashing out the next.

The band took top place in a band contest six months after it formed, and the prize money allowed BUGY CRAXONE to concentrate on performing around Hokkaido.

In 1998, BUGY CRAXONE headed to Tokyo, where they recorded their first indie releasees and managed to drum up a lot of good press. The band eventually signed with Victor Entertainment.

BUGY CRAXONE released its first single, "Pistol to Tenshi" (the first song the band ever wrote), in March 1999. Since then, the group has released three albums.

2002's This is New Sunrise features guest appearances by Chiba Yusuke from Thee Michelle Gun Elephant, plus Yoshimura Atsushi and Togawa Shinichiroo from WINO. Later that year, the band released Northern Hymns, a dramatically different album in which BUGY embraces a garage rock sound.

In 2003, BUGY CRAXONE parted ways with Victor Entertainment and formed its own label, ZubRockA. The band released its fourth album, Sorry, I will scream here, in June 2004.
