Electric Eel Shock

Biography

[Electric Eel Shock]

While Thee Michelle Gun Elephant are the reigning kings of garage rock in Japan, Electric Eel Shock has set its sights on the rest of the world.

With a grueling tour schedule that includes regular trips to the United States and Europe, the young trio has garnered rave reviews for its wild live shows. Like eX-Girl and Shonen Knife before them, Electric Eel Shock has developed a stronger fan base outside of Japan as a result of its travels.

The band started its own label, Micro Music, in 1999, and its first album, Maybe ... I Think We Can Beat Nirvana was immediately pulled from stores because the band didn't know how to create a two-track master from its recording sessions! Electric Eel Shock's second album, Slayer Bay's Blues, presented the band in a lo-fi light, full of raw energy and more than its share of tunes.

San Francisco group the Get-Go shared a split release with Electric Eel Shock in 2001, and the following year, the trio released Go America!

Electric Eel Shock have played a number of international festivals and toured with fellow garage rockers the Datsuns and the D4.
