Biography

[日暮愛葉 (Higurashi Aiha)]

Seagull Screaming Kiss Her Kiss Her had supported the likes of Beck and Sonic Youth and played large-scale festivals in its 10 year-existence.

But in 2002, the band abruptly went on hiatus, just as the duo's music started to get serious attention outside of Japan. UK-based label Red Cherry released a Seagull Screaming Kiss Her Kiss Her compilation, and UK magazine Face interviewed songwriter and vocalist Higurashi Aiha about the band she started in 1992.

That same year, Higurashi started writing material for a solo project. She wrote and produced the first single by former Judy and Mary singer Yuki, titled "the end of shite". It became a big hit for Yuki, and it put Higurashi on the mainstream map.

A year later, Higurashi debuted with her own single, "New Life". A second single, "Fantasy", followed two months later, with her solo debut, Born Beautiful, following in January 2004.

After a nation-wide tour in February 2004, Higurashi began work on her next project.
