Ann-Sally

Biography

[Ann-Sally]

Given the ease of Ann-Sally's beautiful voice, it's hard to imagine she's anything but.

Yet, the Korean-born singer is also a medical professional. Ann-Sally was raised in Nagoya before heading to Tokyo to study medicine.

While in college, she participated in her school's music circles. She went on to work as a researcher, taking time off to be a volunteer physician for the winter Olympics in Nagoya.

Ann-Sally still pursued her singing, which resulted in her 2001 debut Voyage. In 2003, Ann-Sally released two follow-up albums on the same date, Moon Dance for Video Arts Music and Day Dream for BMG. A visit to New Orleans in 2004 inspired Ann-Sally to record with the city's musicians, which resulted in the 2005 album Brand New Orleans.

She cites Sam Cooke, Rickie Lee Jones and Elis Regina as influences.
