Biography

Combining multimedia with music, downy performs repetitive, guitar-driven music that's been described as dark, tortued and intense.

The band formed in April 2000 while leader Aoki Robin was studying photography. He invited some friends to improvise music in front of a while screen projecting images. Eventually, those performances became the basis for downy.

downy's concerts in Shibuya and Shimokitazawa gained a reputation for putting its audience in a trance. A music magazine even sought the groups out to host a "trance party".

downy has performed concerts with Number Girl, bloodthirsty butchers, Luminous Orange and Bleach. Although its sound is often compared to Radiohead, downy shares with Sigur Ros a habit of leaving albums untitled.
