The half-Taiwanese, half-Japanese singer delivers a diverse cross section of Japanese pop with a sturdy voice comfortable in different contexts.
She can sing folk melodies on one track, heavy rock on another, and straight-forward pop on the next.
Hitoto was born in Taiwan and studied piano as a child. She joined an a capella groups during her college days as she majored in environmental studies. She speaks Mandarin, English and Japanese.
Hitoto released her debut single, "Morai Naki", in 2002, following it quickly with an album, Tsukitenshin.
