Buffalo Daughter

Biography

[Buffalo Daughter]

Mixing obtuse guitar rock with healthy doses of sampling and analog synthesizers, Buffalo Daughter became one of many Japanese indie band to be signed to a U.S. label in the wake of Shonen Knife and Pizzicato Five.

Formed in 1993, the trio released two albums on the Cardinal label in Japan before hooking up with the Beastie Boys' Grand Royal label in 1996. Buffalo Daughter rode a wave of critical acclaim in hipster circles in the late 90s and toured with the likes of Luscious Jackson and Pavement.
